Finding out that their opponent still somewhat resembled that which posted, by all available accounts, a 6-3-2 overall mark during its 2016 "preview" season of soccer, Bayfield's girls had to put in one final weekend's work to go into spring break savoring a slim win over Crested Butte Community School.
Welcoming Crested Butte, which they'd defeated twice last year, to Wolverine Country Stadium for the first time as an official 3A/2A Intermountain League member, the Wolverines got two goals from junior Savannah Kaufmann to score a 2-1 victory.
Sophomore Tess Fenerty netted the guests' goal, but further statistics from last Saturday's action were unavailable as BHS improved to 2-3 overall, 2-1 against the entire league prior to resuming action April 7 at home versus non-league 3A Salida.
