Well, I see the squeaky wheels finally got their oil.
I would like to tell Mike Smedley how much I have enjoyed his Saturday Action Line column. It brought me smiles and sometimes laugh-out-loud moments at the end of an otherwise dismal week.
My grand old age of 83 has seen many arguments with opposing views in this crazy world. There were many times our beloved country went through disasters that we thought might be the end of our freedoms – but surely not the freedom of our press. Our newspapers kept our rights on track, keeping those squeaky wheels at bay.
However, when a columnist has to apologize and then retire a column, that is one the worst losses of freedoms, which we as Americans should fear.
I am sorry the Herald did not stand up for Mike. I will miss him.
