2014 BHS After Prom was a huge success

On behalf of the Bayfield High School After Prom Committee and Class of 2015, we would like to thank the following individuals and companies for making the 2014 After Prom Party a phenomenal success. First of all, we would like to thank the Sky Ute Casino and Event Center for providing the venue. The large facility allowed the kids to enjoy many games and events, and the staff provided the pizza and support so the night went flawlessly.

Secondly, we would like to thank the La Plata County Energy Council for their annual grant for this important cause. Specific thanks to the La Plata County Energy Council go to BP America, Chevron Corp., ConocoPhillips, D.J. Simmons, WPX Energy, Abadie & Schill P.C., San Juan College, CH2M Hill, Red Cedar Gathering Co., Red Willow Production, Williams Energy, Finney Land Co., Energen Resources, and Stephens Productions.

In addition, the following made important monetary donations to help pay for the venue, food and prizes: M3 Midstream, Piner River Rotary Club, FCI Construction, Southwest Appliance, First National Bank of Durango, Southwest Ag, Bayfield Auto Center, Alpine Lumber, Chris and Kelly Mystrom, RT Construction, Marian Tone, and Robin Snooks.

These companies and individuals donated gift certificates , prizes and food: Southwest Appliance, Ken and Sue's Restaurant, Momentum Fitness/Crossfit Bayfield, Full Blast Adventure Center, Subway West of Durango, Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory, Coca-Cola of Durango, Cuckoo's, Bayfield Mini Merc, AJ's Pizza, Dairy Queen, Wayne and Melody Semler, Krista Harris, Wild Horse Salon, Christy Snyder at Haircrafters, AJ's Greenhouse, Cold Stone Creamery, Brenda's Old West Café, Bottom Shelf Brewery, Tuning Fork, Starbucks, Allen Theatre, Bayfield Subway, This-N-That, Baked, and Mill Street Drug.

The After Prom Party is designed to give our kids a safe, fun alternative to drinking, driving, and other potentially dangerous activities. Bowling, ping-pong, dodgeball, an obstacle course, and boxing were some of the activities. Pizza, sandwiches, fruit, and chocolate galore, and enough prizes to keep almost everyone happy - this year's party certainly delivered. With over 125 in attendance, After Prom 2014 was the most well-attended in Bayfield history, and the kids are hoping that next year's will be just as much fun.

The success of this event is due to the generosity of the companies and individuals above, as well as the time of the parents who planned and chaperoned the event. Thank you to all involved as well as thank you to the BHS students and their guests for such a great night.
