Sage Myers named to dean’s list

Sage Myers of Durango has been named to the Colorado State University dean’s list for his academic achievement during the fall semester of the 2013-14 year.

Myers, a Daniels Scholar, is a biological science major in the College of Natural Sciences, whose qualifications for the dean’s list honor require a grade point average of 3.75 or higher. He is a 2013 Durango High School graduate and is the son of Danny and Sandy Myers.

Lily Spencer named to dean’s list

Lily Spencer, 2013 graduate of Durango High School, has been named to the dean’s list for the Fall semester at University of Colorado, Colorado Springs.

Spencer is a prenursing major. Requirements for the dean’s list for the College of Letters, Arts and Sciences at UCCS are completing a minimum of 12 graded hours with a grade point average of 3.75 and above.

Spencer is the daughter of Beth and Cliff Spencer of Durango.

P.E.O. announces scholarship winner

Philanthropic Educational Organization, Chapter CS, announces that Durango High School student Tymbree Hawkins is the 2014 recipient of the Dorothy Gore P.E.O. Scholarship in the amount of $1,000.

Hawkins was chosen for outstanding academic achievement, leadership ability and potential and for reaching out to people in need. She plans to study biochemistry to prepare herself for a career in a health profession. Hawkins has been recruited by Fort Lewis College to play women’s lacrosse.

P.E.O. is a philanthropic educational organization dedicated to celebrating the advancement of women, promoting educational opportunities for women and motivating women to achieve their highest aspirations.
