May is Motorcycle Safety and Awareness Month. As the weather gets warmer and summer approaches, there will be more motorcycles on the roads. Motorcycles are more difficult to see than cars, so please look twice when pulling out onto roadways. They are also more difficult to see when approaching from the opposite direction, even with their headlights on during the day, so please look twice again when making left hand turns. It is sometimes more difficult to judge the speed of one headlight approaching you than the two headlights of an automobile, so be aware. They are also more easily hidden in your blind spots, so use caution when changing lanes.
May is a good time to register for a safety course to brush up on your riding skills which are so important for your safety on the road.
Lastly, if you're a new rider or want to become a new rider or haven't gotten your "M" endorsement yet, May is the perfect time to register for a motorcycle safety training class.
For the safety of all Colorado motorists, please don't drive distracted, stay focused on the road at all times and look twice for motorcyclists. You just might save a life! Thank you from ABATE - A Brotherhood Active Toward Education.
