The annual Creativity Festivity, a two-week celebration of children’s imaginative work in art, theatre, poetry and music, will continue through April 16 at the Durango Arts Center with special events, featured gallery exhibit and performances.
Creativity Festivity is sponsored by Durango School District 9-R, Durango Friends of the Arts, and the Community Foundation serving Southwest Colorado.

In honor of April’s National Poetry Month and the Creativity Festivity, the Durango High School annual Poetry Slam will take place from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in the Durango Arts Center Theatre, 802 East Second Ave.
The event will feature Grand Central, the high school band of Stillwater Music.
A new printmaking exhibit curated by Maureen May and featuring more than 20 printmakers will open April 22 at the Durango Arts Center, 802 East Second Ave.
The opening reception will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. in the Barbara Conrad Gallery.

Artists, artisans and craftspeople are wanted for the Durango Autumn Arts Festival which will be held Sept. 17 and 18 on East Second Avenue.
The festival is limited to 100 exhibitors and the application deadline is May 20.

This is Kavanagh’s 11th year performing on the series. Tickets are $20 for adults and $5 for students and children, and are available at DurangoRecitals.com and at the door.
The workshop “Ukulele as a Rhythm Instrument” will take place from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the Durango Arts Center, 802 East Second Ave.
Erin McGrane and Jeff Freling of “Victor & Penny” will show participants the difference between just strumming along and driving the rhythm. Participants will learn simple but effective strumming techniques and delve into the styles of swing, hot jazz and gypsy jazz.
Victor & Penny also will perform in concert at 7 p.m. at the arts center.
The cost for the workshop is $45, the cost for the concert is $20, and the cost for both is $55.

The Fort Lewis College Artists in Residence committee will host concert pianist Jocelyn Swigger.
Swigger will perform the entire Chopin Etudes at 3 p.m. Sunday in Roshong Recital Hall at FLC.
The cost is $15 for adults, $5 for children, FLC students are free with ID. A free Master Class will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday in Roshong Recital Hall.
The Fort Lewis College concert and jazz bands will perform at 7 p.m. April 15 in the Community Concert Hall at FLC.
The band will perform “Mars, the Bringer of War” from Holst’s “Planets,” a variation on a Korean Folk Song, and “Amazing Grace.” They’ll also feature alumni Sam Kelly on Claude T. Smith’s saxophone concerto Fantasia. The Jazz Ensemble will perform a varied program highlighting a number of musical styles including the hard rocking classic Dancing Men, Jersey Bounce, Mercer Ellington’s Things Ain’t What They Used To Be and Bob Mintzer’s Slo-Funk. The cost is $5 for adults, $1 for children, and FLC students get a free ticket with ID.
