Winter Sports hires Greg Betzing

Greg Betzing, of Durango, has accepted the position of fundraising manager for the Durango Winter Sports Foundation.

Betzing’s local knowledge, business skills and good-hearted nature will help raise money for local youths to participate in alpine skiing, freestyle skiing, Nordic skiing and snowboarding. He has lived in Durango for 19 years, is the father of three children and has supported and volunteered for Purgatory Alpine Ski Team. Betzing also has volunteered in Ironman Triathlons and plans to compete in the 70.3-mile triathlon this October in Austin, Texas. His interests are cycling, skiing, fly-fishing, hunting and spending time outdoors.

After-hours event to be hosted by Chamber

Durango Chamber of Commerce will host Business After Hours from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at La Plata Electric Association, 45 Stewart St.

The cost is $7 for chamber members and guests.

Pediatric Partners OK’d for loan repayment

Pediatric Partners of the Southwest was recently approved by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services National Health Service Corps as a National Health Service Corps site eligible for loan repayment.

The corps offers financial and other support to primary-care providers and sites in a community-based site in a high-need area that has been approved by the corps as a service site.

Life coach, Spanish teacher opens office

Liza Tregillus, a play therapist and a former Spanish professor at Fort Lewis College, will host an open house from 3:30 to 6 p.m. Wednesday at her new office, 171 E. Seventh St., in the alley next to the Clay Room.

Tregillus will offer information about parent/youth coaching as well as her new small-group conversational Spanish classes. She works with youths of all ages and young adults who do not need therapy but can benefit from a positive life-coaching experience.

Tregillus also will offer two small “Happy Hour Spanish” classes for people 21 and older.
