Your coverage of Kevin Abeyta (Herald, June 16) has given me, for one, pause to reflect.
The true “heroes” in this world often go unrecognized and unsung. They are the quiet ones who walk among us unnoticed.
They are not, in reality, the ones who run fastest down a field with a ball, nor those who are “famous for being famous,” though those are the ones we seem to want to honor and emulate.
True heroes are never scripted, pre-planned or well publicized; they are simply the ones who act in the moment, instinctively, and in the service of others.
Currently, Kevin Abeyta is the hero that I wish to take note of.
