It’s a special night for burgers at the Palace Restaurant from 5 to 10 p.m. Thursday at 50l Main Ave.
This 20-year tradition is a fundraiser to help the Health Coalition of Southwest Colorado raise money for its grants and gas cards available to local residents in cancer treatment.
There will be music by Bobby Overfield, a live auction with Calvin Story at 7:30 p.m., and a silent auction. Burgers are $10. To contribute, call 799-1654.
The Durango Elks Lodge has arranged for a community group photo at Ninth Street and Main Avenue under the Red Shirt Friday Banner at 11:30 a.m. Friday.
Wear your red shirt and remember service members on deployment on National Red Shirt Day. National Red Shirts are on sale from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday at the Durango Elks Lodge, 901 East Second Ave.
The Carmelita’s of St. Peter-St. Rosa Catholic Church, 18851 Highway 151, Arboles, are organizing a cleanup at the Rosa Cemetery from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday.
The cemetery is located at the south end of County Road 975, immediately to the left after the state border cattle guard. Anyone with family or friends buried at the Rosa Cemetery is invited to the first 2016 bi-annual cleanup. Morning coffee and lunch will be provided by the Arboles Carmelita’s.
If you can help, come with rakes, shovels, weed-wackers and wear gloves and hats.

The Durango Elks Lodge Veterans Committee will serve breakfast from 9 to 11 a.m. the first and third Sundays of the month at the Durango Elks Lodge, 901 East Second Ave.
Participants should use the lodge’s Ninth Street entrance.
The cost is $5 for veterans, $6 for non-veterans.
A public meeting concerning off-highway vehicle use on County Road 501G will be held from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Vallecito Community Event Center, 17252 County Road 501, Bayfield
Resolution 2016-11 would designate ½-mile of County Road 501G as an off-highway vehicle route, thereby permitting the operation of off-highway vehicles and snowmobiles on County Road 501G to its terminus at Forest Road 724.
La Plata County staff will present information on the resolution, discuss its background and solicit public comment from the community. This meeting is informational only; no decisions will be made.
Commissioners will consider the matter at 10 a.m. May 24.
