Psychopath. Derived from two Greek words meaning “sick mind” or “suffering soul.”
Psychiatrists and psychologists use various methods and criteria when measuring psychopathic behavior. The gold standard test for measuring psychopathy is the Psychopathy Check List, revised in 1980, also known as “The Hair” after its creator Dr. Robert Hare.
The PCL-R measures 20 personality traits and behaviors. The checklist’s 20 items include: glibness/superficial charm; grandiose sense of self-worth; need for stimulation/proneness to boredom; pathological lying; conning/manipulation; lack of remorse/guilt; shallow affect; callousness/lack of empathy; parasitic lifestyle; promiscuous sexual behavior problems; lack of realistic, long-term goals; impulsivity; failure to accept responsibility; many short-term marital relationships; juvenile delinquency and criminal versatility.
The test is scored, zero for no presence, one for uncertain or two for definitely present. The general population scores less than 5 points. Prisoners average a score of 23. Psychopaths score in the 30 to 40 points range.
My calculations have Donald Trump in the range with psychopaths. When some voters refer to him as a psychopath, they’re not exaggerating. This man should not be elected to lead the free world. He is not stable. And, he is dangerous. Please do not vote for him.
