Hoping for a return to civility in politics

Even though I did not vote for him, I hope that Mr. Trump is successful in his position as top executive of our already-great nation.

As per your comment of hoping that the left listens, I feel that listening to the views of others has become rather scarce of late no matter the political persuasion of the person.

This election is not much different from the many others that have preceded it in that by truly looking at the numbers of votes that each candidate received, it is obvious that there is no such thing as a mandate for his agenda.

Rather it should be seen by the winner that enough people believe in him to achieve a narrow victory in the election, but it is incumbent upon the victor to realize that in his new position, he will be looked to by all Americans to provide security and peace for the present and hope for the future.

The only way for this to occur is for the victor in this election, and all future elections, to realize that God gave us one mouth and two ears for a reason.

I am tired of politicians of both of the two major parties who have forgotten that adage, and instead of listening to all of the people of this country, seem to listen to only those who agree with them.

As seen in this election cycle, instead of discussing issues, they seem to think that vilifying those who do not agree with them, and loudly shouting, proves their leadership qualities. (Hint: It does not.)

To all the victors of this election season, I have a simple request: for you to fulfill the duties of your office with honesty and integrity.

And can we please have a return to some civility whereby listening and respecting others is not something rare but is the expected norm?
