Too many Coloradans are unaware that current laws allow the government to reduce property values more than 90 percent without having to provide compensation!
As a fourth-generation cattle rancher, president of the Colorado Farm Bureau, a proud Coloradan and a volunteer, this is an unacceptable reality for property owners in Durango that can change with Amendment 74.
Amendment 74 serves to protect the fundamental freedoms of property ownership in Colorado. Opponents, backed by the same government interests trying to avoid accountability for their actions, are attempting to muddy the water and distract from what Amendment 74 is about – fairness. It is a simple, straightforward ballot measure that balances government responsibility with fair compensation for all private property owners, from ranchers like me to urban residents.
Amendment 74 ensures that when it comes to land value and ownership, our government takes responsibility for its actions. Colorado landowners are a critical piece of the fabric that makes up our wonderful state. By voting YES on Amendment 74, you are voting to keep Colorado a fair, valuable place for property owners to not only live, but also thrive for years to come.
