Letters: On bridge, three paths to the same point is overkill

Regarding the 32nd Street bridges, I spent a few hours viewing the many letters, the city’s website and all that has been done so far on the north end.

If it were up to me I would build the single overpass from behind City Market (old recycling area) to the hilltop at Third Street where the trail is under construction or just short of it as the current plan shows, making this an elevated and level crossing of 32nd Street.

I see no reason why the current crosswalk at 32nd Street should not just be an alternate route and see no need for the diagonal overkill third crossing high above the river.

The continuation along Second Avenue provides the continuous trail from behind the Rec Center directly to Oxbow without the unneeded and costly river crossing.

Three paths to the same point is just overkill and creates the messy interchange that should be saved for interstate freeway ramps, not our scenic bridges and river.
