Let it snow, we’ll go skiing

When Mother Nature gives us lemons, or snow, we know just what to do

James Coleman does not have it in his power to make snow, but he knows what to do when it arrives. After opening his Purgatory Resort for a couple of weekends after a long winter wound down, he is reopening it again this weekend.

Fresh snow early this week – in large quantities – has made it possible to put lift 1 in operation.

So, if your garden plants were nipped, set that concern aside and reach for your skis or your board. You cannot mow the lawn until it dries, anyway.

A ski area is largely at the mercy of the weather, and staffing needs can fluctuate unpredictably. Not an easy business to operate.

Now there is the opportunity to ski in late May, during the Memorial Day weekend. Thanks to Mother Nature – and Purgatory’s leadership – for making that possible.
