Running a business in Durango is both incredible and challenging.
An expansion of the terminal at our little airport would make the challenging part easier; it would also make personal travel more enjoyable.
I urge everyone to support the ballot for this expansion. We are fortunate to have this airport, but an expansion would increase the choices in carriers, which is currently quite limited. Many of us have had to unexpectedly stay overnight due to a flight cancellation with no other choices available.
No matter where I go, I am always anxious to get back to Durango. I am also proud to have visitors come to enjoy our special town, but too often the limited flights make it difficult to get here.
I encourage everyone to vote yes for the minimal and temporary property tax increase to support the terminal expansion, and also improvements to county roads and bridges. Even after an increase we would still have some of the lowest property taxes in the state.
