Mancos State Park announces programs

Mancos State Park, 42545 County Road N in Mancos, will offer these programs:

A butterfly program will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday. Nets will be provided.

Kids and adults will learn about wildlife and its habitat at Wild Games at 4 p.m. Saturday.

A concert that will honor the tradition of the cowboy will be held at 7 p.m. Saturday. People are invited to wear a cowboy hat and boots. Dogs are welcome.

Bird watching will take place at 7:30 a.m. Sunday. Participants should bring binoculars.

A butterfly program will be held at 11 a.m. Sunday.

Navajo State Park to host bear program

A Colorado wildlife officer will teach about bears at an educational program at 6 p.m. Friday at Navajo State Park, 1526 County Road 982 in Arboles.

The presentation will be made by district wildlife officer Stephanie Schuler.

Schuler will explain the biology of bears, how they interact with humans and the habits and life cycle of bears. She also will talk about being “bear aware” and how to keep bears safe and away from homes and campsites.

Schuler will lead games to help teach children about bears. She also will bring bear hides and skulls.
