Online education option explained

A free information session hosted by

The session is for Durango families considering online educational options for their children.

Ute Dictionary release party will be Thursday

A release party in honor of the updated Ute Dictionary is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Thursday at the Ignacio Public Library, 470 Goddard Ave.

The publication of the revised and expanded Ute Dictionary marks the completion of a grand revision of the three Ute language books.

To be usable, the dictionary includes several introductory chapters that link the words to the Ute sound system and alphabet, the grammar of word usage, the derivation of new words from existing ones and a detailed guide to the structure and use of the dictionary. Tom Givon and Pearl Casias will be at the event for a discussion of the dictionary.

A home garden tour planned for June 8

The Garden Club of Durango will meet at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the home of Marsha Schuetz, 9795 East Animas Road (County Road 250).

There will be a tour of Marsha’s extensive gardens followed by a question-and-answer session with Darrin Parmenter from the La Plata County Extension Office.

Colorado Trail will be topic for Horsemen

The Four Corners Back Country Horsemen will hold its monthly meeting at 7 p.m. Thursday in the Bayfield Town Hall, 1199 Bayfield Parkway.

MK Gunn will give a presentation about the Colorado Trail – a trail that she has backpacked from Denver to Durango. She will also highlight suitable day rides for horsemen in the Durango area and multi-day horse-packing sections of the trail.

Gunn is the education, volunteer and visitor information services assistant for the San Juan Mountains Association.

Learn to clean up your computer

A class on how to clean and speed up a computer will be held at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Ignacio Library, 470 Goddard Ave, Ignacio.

The class will focus on how to remove programs, manage the space on your computer and find and delete files you’re not using to get your machine to run smoothly and efficiently.

Applebee’s offers deals to blood donors

If anyone gives blood in June, United Blood Services will give them a $5 off coupon for their next visit to Applebee’s as a thank you for their donation.

The coupons are good through July 31.
