Udall endorsement avoided key issues

Several items weren’t mentioned in the Herald’s Oct. 5 endorsement of Sen. Mark Udall, and the items have also been carefully left out of most news stories.

First of all, Udall deliberately lied in his promises that everyone could keep their doctor, their insurance, etc., under Obamacare. Udall knew that wasn’t true and he even voted down an amendment offered by Sen. Mike Enzi who was attempting to fix the damage many households would feel in terms of losing their coverage, their doctor, and so on.

Not mentioned much by the Herald is also a big problem waiting in the wings. Obama and the Democrats have carefully delayed (illegally, by most accounts) until after the upcoming election some more of the mandates that are going to cause many people to lose their coverage, their doctors, their currently affordable health care, and so on. Obamacare was deliberately sold as something it’s not. Sure, some people will be helped by the ACA, but more people will lose the good and affordable health care that they were perfectly happy with. Udall is largely responsible for this, and despite his deliberate lies about Obamacare, The Durango Herald supports him.

Lastly, the Herald has had little to say about the proposed amendment to the Constitution that Udall and Sen. Michael Bennet have co-sponsored. The Democrats have proposed an amendment that will actually take away some of the rights guaranteed by the First Amendment. The untruthful spin by Democrats is that their amendment will curb abuses by billionaires and corporations. There is no mention at all of billionaires or corporations in the amendment; the amendment allows the party in power (read Democrats) to arbitrarily control elections, pure and simple. It is so obviously an attempt to abuse power that even the very liberal ACLU has joined in opposition to this proposal. The shocking amendment should have been front-page news, but most liberal news outlets avoided mentioning it because if the public knew about it, they might not vote for a Democrat like Mark Udall.
