Voters beware! Amendment 67 sounds like a “no brainer.” Why would anybody vote against the right of a fetus to be considered a person? So, why do we need it?
Well, the trial lawyers want it. Why? Because at present, if a newborn dies in a hospital, the parents can sue for malpractice and incompetence, but not for “wrongful death.”
As I was told by an attorney, a defendant cannot win in a jury trial against wrongful death. It is only how much the defendant must pay. It doesn’t make any difference how guiltless the hospital or doctors are; they cannot win, and ultimately, we will pay the bill.
So don’t be hoodwinked, vote against Amendment 67.
