New Mexico removed remaining pandemic restrictions and officially opened up as of Thursday.
To protect vulnerable patient populations and each other from COVID-19, San Juan Regional Medical Center and San Juan Health Partners clinics will continue to follow COVID-safe practices, including the use of personal protective equipment for caregivers and mandatory masks for everyone who enters facilities.
San Juan County’s current vaccination rate is 63.2%, but some portions of the county are much lower. Aztec’s vaccination rate is 36.2%. Low vaccination rates can result in the spread of COVID-19.
With new COVID-19 variants present, there are risks of increased transmissibility, reduced effectiveness of antibody treatments and reduced vaccine immunity. This has specifically been shown in the Delta variant from India, which has been seen in San Juan County, according to hospital news release.
