Gulec, Hill and Paslay for 9-R school board

Durango School District 9-R needs help and fast. The Nov. 2 school board election will give Durango the best opportunity to reverse a decade of declining math and reading proficiency scores and improve on a dismal 73% graduation rate. Math and reading scores were at the 90% level in 2010 and currently stand at 20.9% for math and 47.2% for reading. This should scare every parent, student and resident in the 9-R district.

Donna Gulec, Richard Dean Hill and Kristina Paslay are candidates for the school board, and they will work with the new superintendent, Karen Cheser, to give the students the essentials in education they deserve. Cheser has a successful record at her previous school (a 99% graduation rate) and math and reading proficiency scores at the 70% to 77% levels. This combination will produce for our community.

The facts say it all. It is time to replace a failing school board with one that can produce a solid educational environment for success. The time is now. Go to buildingdurangosfuture.com to learn more about the team that can deliver: Donna Gulec, Richard Dean Hill and Kristina Paslay.
