I am writing this letter in support of Erika Brown, Andrea Parmenter and Rick Peterson. I have been a long-term substitute in the district and have had many conversations with teachers, para-professionals, administrators and support staff in the district. I have also been on a school board and I know the time and dedication it takes to do the job well.
Like all districts, we have had, and do have, issues that need to be addressed. The current school board, which Brown and Parmenter are members of, took the biggest step by hiring a top notch superintendent, who I have found to be very open to hearing the concerns of the community as she moves the district into the future. I support these three candidates because I believe in the direction the new superintendent wants to move the district in.
The thing I have found most troubling with the other candidates is that I have seen misinformation and incorrect readings of the statistics from them. They say they want to improve testing numbers and graduation rates but have not seen any plan or ideas on how to do so. Reading comments on their pages, I see an avoidance of giving direct answers to questions.
I believe that the district is on path to deal with the issues we face, and I support giving the board and the new superintendent time to bring about change. Please support Brown, Parmenter and Peterson this election. We are moving forward.
