South Fork Fire Rescue Ladies Auxiliary of South Fork announced that Jeremy Roderick of Ignacio has been chosen as their first scholarship recipient. Roderick will study Fire Science at Iowa Community College beginning this fall.
The South Fork Fire Rescue Ladies Auxiliary Scholarship is awarded twice a year in April and July to people considering a career in EMS, paramedicine, fire or rescue.
Applications are only accepted from residents of La Plata, Archuleta, Mineral, Saguache, Costilla, Conejos, Rio Grande and Alamosa counties. Applicants must be a high school graduate or have a GED.
