The Women’s Resource Center will host an open house to showcase the portraits of 12 local women who have been the voice for community from 5 to 6 p.m. March 14 at Durango Public Library, 1900 East Third Ave.
There will be light snacks and opportunity to meet and honor them.
The women included: are Esther Belin, Katie Chicklinski-Cahill, Kathy Fine, Beatriz Garcia, Tami Graham, Sara Illsley, Maureen May, Sheila Nanaeto, Judith Reynolds, Laurie Sigillito, Lindy Simmons and Missy Votel. Women’s History Month is a celebration of women’s contributions to history, culture and society and has been observed annually in the month of March in the United States since 1987. The 2023 Women’s History theme, “Celebrating Women Who Tell Our Stories,” honors women in every community who have devoted their lives and talents to producing art, pursuing truth and reflecting the human condition decade after decade.
