The Durango High School girls lacrosse and girls soccer teams will both start the playoffs at home this week.
The lacrosse team scored the No. 13 seed for the 4A tournament and will host No. 20 Liberty at 6 p.m. Tuesday at DHS.
Demons soccer, meanwhile, earned the No. 9 seed and will host No. 20 Palisade at 6 p.m. on Wednesday.
Bayfield girls soccer, Ignacio girls soccer and the Durango boys lacrosse teams didn't make the playoffs.
The DHS girls lacrosse team enters the playoffs on a seven-game winning streak, with a 5-0 home record and 9-5 overall mark. The Demons are led by six players on offense who have scored double-digit goals this season. Annabel Carithers leads the team with 28 goals, followed by Emmylou Willis (27), Victoria Barletta (24), Silvie Bosmans (19), Sofia Naffziger (16) and Taylor Babcock (10).
Liberty is 5-9 overall, but has scored five more goals than DHS this season, 150-145. Eve Vanderhule has scored 49 and Caroline Smith has scored 40 for the Lancers.
The winner of Tuesday's game will play at No. 4 Denver South (10-5) on Thursday.
