ICE just ‘disappeared’ five hardworking men

I’m writing regarding the recent arrest of five employees of Rock Solid Granite in Durango. These men are hard working, skilled stone masons, not murderers and rapists. They show up for work every day, pay their taxes and support their families.

Their “crime” is being undocumented residents of our country. The real criminals are those folks in Washington who get paid $174,000 per year to sit idly by while our Constitution is ignored and the institutions that “Make America Great” are systematically dismantled.

These same folks in Washington have been unable to pass a working immigration law for decades. Those who want to come here for work risk their lives crossing deserts and rivers to seek a better life. They clean hotel rooms, pick the crops that require them to stoop over all day, work the construction jobs that are dangerous and unhealthy and, yes, create the granite counter tops in many of our homes.

To those of you who voted for Donald Trump, is this what you wanted or expected to happen? Do you know anyone who would want these jobs these immigrants performed? Now these five men have disappeared, who will be next?

To those who didn’t vote in the last presidential election, this is what happens when you don’t do your duty to research the candidates and vote responsibly. Remember this when it’s time for the midterm elections, if there are any.
