Recently, O.D. Perry celebrated his 90th birthday. His family hosted a party. I was unable to attend. Yet, I would like to celebrate O.D. and Betty Perry. Now retired, they are very important to Fort Lewis College. They each did their part to serve the students, faculty, staff and public with their expertise and dedication.
Additionally, as I read my Sunday Durango Herald, I am reminded that we are quite fortunate to still have a local newspaper. I applaud all the people who work at the Herald for bringing diverse stories and up-to-date news.
Let’s all do our part to keep the Herald going. Subscribe, advertise and get creative to ensure local news comes our way. Too many towns our size have lost their newspapers. We do not have to agree with everything written, yet we recognize how much we gain from knowing what is happening in the area.
