Thank you, Durango, for supporting the Garden Club of Durango. Because of generous people in the community attending, our yearly plant sale was very successful.
We extend special appreciation to the following people who donated plants: Brigitte Lufty and Heidi Sue King. Thank you also to La Plata County Fairgrounds for supplying tables, chairs, and for the parking lot and use of the general area for our sale. Additional thanks go to The Durango Herald, Durango Telegraph, Durango NextDoor social site, Durango Facebook Garage Sale social site, the Durango Botanic Garden, What’s Happening Durango, 360 Durango and community radio stations for all-important publicity before the sale.
A special thanks to husbands who helped with set up and crowd control, Kevin Ford and Steve Pedersen, and to our “Iris Ladies” Lee Hayes and Barb Hess, who dug, labeled and sold those lovely rhizomes.
The annual plant sale is our club’s only fundraiser to support our community beautification projects. Profits are used to maintain and improve the gardens at Santa Rita Park and fund our annual Arbor Day tree planting.
