We want a City Council member who cares, who is passionate about the city he serves, and who will go above and beyond for our community while thinking clearly through complex issues.
This is why we are wholeheartedly endorsing Seth Furtney for City Council. Seth has served as a Parks and Recreation board member for the past five years. He has been vocal about supporting community voices, particularly those who question the status quo. He pushes for the community concerns to be heard. He is a community steward.
In addition to his donation of land in Buena Vista for the creation of a park, he continuously donates his time and money to outdoor recreation and nonprofits.
Seth was out every weekend helping to build the Sky Raider connection trail in the Sky Ridge area and was a regular participant in the building of the famous Sky Steps near Fort Lewis College.
As a business consultant, Seth has mastered communication skills, collaboration skills and financial savvy. He deals with large budgets and knows how to avoid wasteful spending.
Lastly, Seth is a survivor. He was hit by a car in 2008 while riding his bike and had to learn how to walk and talk again. The fact that he is with us today is due to his inner strength and perseverance.
Everything Seth does is for the good of the community. Seth owns up to his mistakes and learns from them, channeling his passion into ever more appropriate and fruitful channels. The city of Durango will benefit greatly from his selflessness, enthusiasm, intelligence and service.
And this is why we are voting for him for City Council and we urge you to do the same.
