“Will you defend Mueller’s ability to complete his investigation?” I asked you at the town hall in Durango this August past.
Senator Gardner, to my honest surprise and much applause, your response was an unqualified “Yes.”
I can’t say how much I appreciated hearing that.
Weighing heavy on my mind has been the quote by Benjamin Franklin that our form of government is “A Republic, if you can keep it.”
On behalf of a country anxious over attacks on pillars of that republic, including the rule of law, separation of powers, the press and integrity of our elections against the undue influence of foreign powers and monied interests, I sincerely hope you are a man of your word.
