Conservatives, where is your outrage? If any previous president had shunned our allies and cozied up to our enemies, you’d have shouted “Treason.” If he’d constantly insulted our federal law agencies or smugly announced that he had the power to pardon himself, you’d have been apoplectic. You are the champions of free trade and lower taxes, but remain silent as our President single-handedly orders massive tariffs, aka taxes on the American consumer, and incites trade wars with our proven economic partners. Why? You support congressmen who fail to stand up to the President to preserve traditional conservative ideals. Why? Pure partisanship? Is your hatred of all things progressive so profound that you are willing to elect and support any alternative, no matter how repugnant? Do you really support the evolving mission of the Republican Party to enrich big business at the cost of we the taxpayers?
The Republican Party has changed dramatically, leaving us voters who believe in truth, equality, and fairness behind. They cry “they’re trying to take away all our rights!” and air propaganda every day, cajoling you to despise a third of your fellow Americans. Listen carefully to their hateful message. Over the years we have elected many presidents, legislators and governors with principles, common decency, and a will to make the U.S.A. and the world a better place. What has happened?
I was a Republican for 50 years. No more.
