Collective narcissism is the conviction that one’s own group is exceptionally great, combined with resentment that this greatness is not adequately recognized by the rest of the world.

For example: America is the greatest country on Earth, yet it has been taken advantage of by everyone. (I believe the opposite is closer to the truth. We got our start by taking land from Native Americans.)

The suffering of those beyond the group does not register. Those who are strong deserve respect; those who are weak deserve to be exploited. Morality does not exist; there is only power.

Misinformation that confirms existing beliefs spreads rapidly. Information that incites rage spreads rapidly.

The group does not desire a cautious manager. Confronting the group makes it stronger. This is an emotional issue; facts have little influence.

We can only be friendly and respectful to all.
