I want to applaud the three Durango Rotary clubs for once again hosting their outstanding Fourth of July Community Breakfast. I have attended this event for many years, and each year I leave with a renewed appreciation for the spirit of community it fosters.
The delicious breakfast, paired with the festive music of Southwest Civic Winds, created a warm and welcoming atmosphere that brought neighbors, families and visitors together in a joyful reminder of what community can look like at its best.
This year’s event also appropriately recognized two significant milestones: the 250th birthday of the United States and the 150th birthday of Colorado. The occasion was both celebratory and reflective, honoring our shared history.
Events like this require months of planning and the dedicated efforts of countless volunteers who give their time and energy to make the morning a success. Their hard work was evident in every detail. The talent of the 54-plus members of the all-volunteer Southwest Civic Winds was generously shared, filling hearts with the spirit of Independence Day.
Thank you to the three Rotary clubs, Southwest Civic Winds and event sponsors who contributed to making this year’s Fourth of July breakfast another wonderful community tradition.
