FRISCO – Some residents of a Colorado mountain town are opposing a proposal to turn a community center and an adjoining small park into affordable housing.
The Summit Daily News reports Frisco residents will vote on a ballot question next month on whether to allow the town to strip the pocket park designation from the small city-owned lot.
The ballot question stems from a recommendation by a task force which identified the site as one of the best options to quickly construct housing in the resort area town.
The group Save Frisco’s Pocket Park is opposing the ballot question, arguing the town has other build sites available and it shouldn’t lose one of its last remaining open spaces downtown.
Town officials say the park is the best option and other site recommendations present other challenges.
