Hillcrest tournament had the better golf

If it’s one golf fan’s opinion you must have, the United States Golf Association turned our national championship — the U.S. Open – into an exhibition of goony golf. When the best players in the world can’t control their approach shots or read the browns, something is rotten in Washington. No one objects to a stern test, but there’s a far piece between stern and silly.

I spent part of Sunday afternoon at Hillcrest watching the Navajo Trail Open. I saw good players on a superbly conditioned course. It looked more like golf.
