Durango to create wait-list for vacation-rental permits

Applications will be accepted until April 10
The city of Durango will accept applications to be on a wait-list for vacation-rental permits until 4:30 p.m. April 10.

The city of Durango will accept applications to be on a wait-list for vacation-rental permits until 4:30 p.m. April 10.

No more vacation rentals are allowed in the historic neighborhood, east of East Third Avenue and north of First Street, also known as Established Neighborhood 1.

The new wait-list will determine who can apply for a vacation-rental permit when one becomes available.

To apply, property owners or their representatives must submit a land-use application, a $100 fee and proof of identification at River City Hall, 1235 Camino del Rio.

Applicants will be entered into a lottery to determine their position on the wait-list. The list will be posted to the city’s website.

Only people who do not hold a vacation-rental permit are eligible.

Some areas within the city do not have limits on the number of vacation rentals, and in some neighborhoods, vacation rentals are prohibited.

For more information, visit the city’s website or call 375-4850.
