Sky Ute Casino to host nonprofit money booth event

The Southern Ute Indian Tribe, in coordination with Sky Ute Casino Resort, will host the 18th annual nonprofit money booth at 6 p.m. on May 18 at Sky Ute Casino Resort, 14324 County Road 172, Ignacio.

The event will include 15 nonprofit organizations from La Plata, Archuleta and San Juan counties, of which will compete for a share of more than $20,000.

A reception will be held 6 to 7 p.m. to honor selected organizations and present them with $500 checks. The money booth event will start at 7 p.m. A representative from each organization will enter the booth for 45 seconds to grab as much cash as they can.

Last year, the event included Boys and Girls Club of the Southern Ute Indian Tribe, Blue Star Mom’s New Mexico Chapter 1, Adult Learning Center, the Education, Literacy, Health and Inspiration, Silver SPRUCE Academy, TARA Historical Society, Great Old Broads for Wilderness, Durango Food Bank, Hope Community Christian Academy, Chimney Rock Interpretive Association, La Plata County Independent Youth Performing Arts, Ignacio Community Church, Ignacio Chamber of Commerce, Community Connections, and The Prayer Tree Committee.
