Letters: This virus validates all of Trump’s agenda

The true identity of people, communities and corporations shows through during times of crises. During this time of the Wuhan Chinese coronavirus, many towns are coming together to help each other, and so on.

What is Durango and its Durangutans doing? They are being selfish, self-centered pigs, hoarding goods and foods that will take months to use, leaving nothing on store shelves for responsible shoppers to purchase as their supplies dwindle in a normal fashion.

This virus does validate all of President Donald Trump’s major agenda items.

He has warned for years that we are way too reliant on China for goods and production which is now so readily apparent. Terribly unfair trade agreements which need to be corrected. Things the Washington establishment/ruling class have ignored for years while middle America suffered and they got richer and more powerful.

Manufacturing needs to be brought back to America, not shipped overseas to China and elsewhere. Many manufacturing jobs have come back (he found that magic wand), but more need to return.

Immigration and borders need to be controlled, as is now so apparent here and throughout the world.

Our brilliant leaders of both parties, who are so often wrong, ignored the threat of China, clamored about Russia and concentrated on impeachment at the start of this pandemic.
