A pedestrian hit by a car Tuesday night on north Main Avenue has been treated and released from Mercy Regional Medical Center.
The incident occurred about 8 p.m. near 21st Street and Main Avenue.
Clayton Chowning was crossing the street from east to west when he was struck by a 2000 silver Chevrolet truck driving south on Main Avenue, said Cmdr. Rita Warfield of the Durango Police Department.
The truck was being driven by an 18-year-old man, she said.
The driver had not been cited as of Wednesday night; it appears the pedestrian is at fault, Warfield said.
“There was another person that was walking with him in the center lane who stopped for traffic, and he didn’t,” she said. “They were not in a crosswalk, and he was wearing dark clothing.”
Chowning suffered a hip injury and a head laceration, she said.
