Fort Lewis College women’s soccer receives No. 15 ranking

Espinosa earns yet another RMAC award
Fort Lewis College senior goalkeeper Caitlyn Espinosa made 21 saves last weekend to help the Skyhawks improve to 7-2-1 and earn the No. 15 spot in the national coaches poll. She also was named the RMAC Goalkeeper of the Week.

Two more shutouts by Caitlyn Espinosa and a pair of big wins has the Fort Lewis College women’s team gaining more that Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference attention.

At 7-2-1 overall and 5-1 in conference play, the Skyhawks sit atop the RMAC standings. And, after beating previously No. 21 UC-Colorado Springs 1-0 in overtime last weekend, the Skyhawks entered the National Soccer Coaches Association of America poll at No. 15.

FLC is one of two RMAC teams in the poll this week, with Colorado Mines (6-2-2, 4-0-2 RMAC) is No. 23.

Gannon University in Erie, Pennsylvania, is the nation’s No. 1 team, followed by University of North Georgia.

FLC has won four consecutive games in head coach Jimmy Hall’s second season leading the program.

Espinosa, the Skyhawks’ career record holder in shutouts, recorded two more last weekend while making 21 saves. That helped her earn her second RMAC Goalkeeper of the Week award this season.

Espinosa leads the RMAC with an .899 save percentage with 62 saves and only seven goals allowed. She is averaging 6.2 saves per contest.
