Fort Lewis men’s soccer wins on the road again, women shutout at Metro State

After losing a heartbreaker in the final seconds last Sunday to Regis, the Fort Lewis College men’s soccer team had an impressive response this week.

Fort Lewis (3-4, 2-1 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference) went to Adams State on Wednesday and walked away with a dominant 4-1 win. The Skyhawks followed it up with another road win on Sunday, this time a 2-1 victory at CSU-Pueblo.

Raul Pescador’s first goal of the season was the game-winner for FLC in the 75th minute. Dana Kowachek also scored for the Skyhawks, who trailed 1-0 at halftime.

Elliot Chadderton got the win between the posts and needed to stop just two shots in the process.

Fort Lewis will host Colorado Mesa at 3 p.m. Friday before heading back on the road Sunday for a match at Westminster College in Salt Lake City.

Women’s Soccer

Metro State 1, Fort Lewis 0

Women’s SoccerThe Skyhawks women’s soccer team couldn’t get going offensively on the trip to Denver this week.

Fort Lewis was blanked 1-0 Friday at Regis and the same outcome happened at Metro State on Sunday.

The Roadrunners (3-3-2, 2-2 RMAC) broke a stalemate in the 55th minute when Regina Banks scored what turned out to be the game-winning goal.

Kaylee Mickens made one save for Fort Lewis (3-4-1, 2-2 RMAC) in the 90 minutes as each team only landed two shots on frame.

Fort Lewis led in shots 10-8 with Shayla Malecki and Alicia Sanchez leading the team with three shots attempted each.

Next up for FLC is a 7 p.m. match at UC-Colorado Springs. From there, the team will head to Gunnison for a 1 p.m. matchup Sunday.

Women’s Volleyball

Metro State 3, Fort Lewis 0

Women’s VolleyballThe Fort Lewis volleyball team was swept 3-0 by Metro State (9-3, 4-0 RMAC) Saturday night, 27-25, 25-18 and 25-19

Maddie LeBlanc and Hannah Martinez led FLC (3-9, 2-2 RMAC) with eight kills. Delaney Scanlan led with 27 assists and added seven digs. Libero Ally Dell’Amico had 15 digs.

Fort Lewis will try to get back on track at 7 p.m. Friday at FLC’s Whalen Gymnasium Colorado Mesa.
