Centura Health has appointed Mike Murphy as interim Chief Executive Officer for Mercy Regional Medical Center.
Murphy, a resident of Durango for nine years, has served and will continue to serve as Centura Health’s Group Vice President of Strategy since 2018. Murphy has a proven track record in strategy and hospital leadership and brings more than 25 years of experience inspiring teams and boosting performance through people-focused hospital administration. He earned a master of business administration in healthcare administration from Xavier University in Cincinnati, Ohio, a master of science in clinical cardiology from the University of Wisconsin – La Crosse and a bachelor of science in exercise physiology from Springfield College in Springfield, Md.
After 10 years with Mercy, earlier this month Will McConnell announced his plans to pursue a new health care opportunity outside of Colorado. McConnell’s last day as CEO will be April 10. To ensure a seamless transition and suitable overlap period with McConnell, Murphy will begin serving as Mercy CEO on April 6.
