A group of random highway travelers united on Highway 160 east of Mancos to beat out a rapidly growing grass fire. To all of you: You are awesome, and I was truly impressed. One gentleman told me there was a plane leaving the airport with six empty seats because passengers had stopped to help. By the time I got there with a fire extinguisher it was mostly out, and a dozen exhausted, soot-covered people with ruined T-shirts and jackets are to thank for it not reaching the tree line. You have renewed my faith in humanity for another day – well done.
