San Juan County detention facilities have completed COVID-19 testing of all staff and detainees in all facilities.

San Juan County Juvenile Detention Center had no positive cases in detainees or staff.

San Juan County Adult Detention center had eight positive tests. Four male detainees, three female detainees and one contract staffer tested positive. The staffer is a contract employee and only works as needed as a relief staffer. Those detainees have been quarantined and are being monitored and treated by medical staff. 275 detainees were tested and 186 staff.

As part of the contact-tracing process, those who may have come in contact with the positive detainees are also being monitored. All detainees who have been released and would be considered to have had first or second-degree exposure to any of the positive detainees will be contacted by the N.M. Department of Health.

San Juan County Alternative Sentencing Department had no positive cases in detainees or staff.

Going forward, the New Mexico Department of Health has provided testing capacity so every detainee coming into any of the three facilities will be tested for COVID-19 at intake.
