San Juan Regional Medical Center announces fall childbirth preparation classes

San Juan Regional Medical Center will host virtual Childbirth Preparation Series classes in September, October and November.

The classes helps new parents prepare for the birth of their baby by providing the support services and education they need to make sure their baby gets the best start in life.

Moms and their families/support person are invited to attend to learn the basics about healthy pregnancy and birth, what to expect once the baby is born, newborn basics and beyond.

Topics covered include comfort measures, breathing, relaxation, the stages and phases of labor, support person skills, medical interventions in labor, the first few weeks at home and postpartum care. Emphasis is placed on having a healthy pregnancy, understanding the physical and emotional challenges of labor and delivery and getting to know other pregnant women and families.

The classes are free. The four-week sessions will be held virtually from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursdays on Zoom. Register one person per family by calling (505) 609-2134 or online at:
