Several mountain passes closed Friday morning in Southwest Colorado

Molas Pass south of Silverton was closed Friday morning while crews did avalanche mitigation. Other area passes were closed as well, including Lizard Head, Coal Bank and Red Mountain passes.

Several mountain passes were closed Friday morning across Southwest Colorado for avalanche mitigation.

Passes closed as of 5 a.m. Friday included:

Coal Bank and Molas passes north of Durango on U.S. Highway 550. The passes will remain closed for much of the morning as crews perform winter maintenance operations, including avalanche mitigation.Red Mountain Pass north of Silverton on Highway 550 remains closed as part of a long-term closure.Lizard Head Pass will remain closed for much of the morning while crews perform winter maintenance operations, including avalanche mitigation.Wolf Creek Pass was open Friday morning.
