Ice! Camera! Action! Figure skaters take flight

The Durango Figure Skating Club is holding its annual spring show at 5:30 p.m. today at Chapman Hill Ice Rink.

The event is a showcase for DFSC members to display their skills through choreographed routines – solo, duets and group.

The spring show costs $4 for children and $6 for adults.

There’s still time for kickball, softball

The Durango Parks and Recreation kickball and men’s women’s and coed softball leagues are targeted to start the week of May 6.

Kickball teams can register by today and still pay the $315 early-bird fare. After today, the cost of registration is $355 per team. The deadline to register is April 27.

For softball, registration is $515 per team.

Lanny Barnes is fit; come see just how fit

The Durango Performance Center is using Durango Olympian Lanny Barnes as a guinea pig for a group of Silverton students.

The center will be doing some exercise physiology tests on the Durango High School alumna and two-time Olympic biathlete at 2:30 p.m. today at the Durango Performance Center to teach the students what it takes to be an elite athlete and how exercise physiology is involved in the process.
