Mercy Cardiology welcomes new physician
Mercy Cardiology Associates welcomes interventional cardiologist Dr. Alex Fraley.
Fraley specializes in minimally invasive interventional techniques to diagnose and treat diseases and defects of the heart and blood vessels.
Fraley attended the University of Utah School of Medicine and completed his cardiovascular research and fellowship at the University of California, San Diego. He then spent a year at the William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak, Mich., and a year as an inaugural cardiology fellow in a program sponsored by the Vascular Interventional Advances physicians group that promoted collaboration among interventional cardiologists, vascular surgeons, and interventional radiologists.
Fraley relocated from the San Francisco Bay Area with his wife and three children.

Advantage hires new receptionist
Advantage Physical Therapy & Wellness announces the arrival of new receptionist Daniele Loyd.
Loyd relocated to Durango from Albuquerque and originally is from Long Beach, Calif. She is working on a bachelor’s degree in psychology and plans to obtain a master’s in social work. She started working for Advantage in July.

Chamber to host Lunch & Learn Aug. 22
The Durango Chamber of Commerce will host a Lunch & Learn titled “Healthcare in Colorado: How recent legislative mandates impact your business” at noon Aug. 22 at the First National Bank of Durango, 259 W. Ninth St.
Richard Betts of ASAP Accounting & Payroll Services Inc. will lead the presentation. He will provide an update on health-care reform and its legislative mandates, provide an outline of how businesses are affected, review tax benefits currently available as well as provide resources for how to stay informed. The cost is $10 for members and $20 for nonmembers.

Maria’s Bookshop announces the addition of Hunter Knox to its book-selling team.
Knox is a recent graduate of the University of Texas at Austin, where he studied English and philosophy.
