Christianity study to begin Wednesday

First Southern Baptist Church of Durango will begin a study on the “Story of Christianity – A History of the Faith” at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Church Fellowship Hall. The course will trace the development of Christianity from the time of the first Pentecost (30 A.D.) to the present day. Events from the spread of the gospel to the Reformation to the development of fundamentalism and postmodernism will be discussed.

Tom Cummins will teach the class. Cummins has taught the Bible and religion for 15 years and holds master’s degrees in Biblical Studies and Religious Education from Liberty University in Lynchburg, Va. First Southern Baptist Church is located at 1715 West Second Ave. Space is limited.

Gospel sing-along at Foursquare Church

Guest pianist Jerry Pippin will lead an old-fashioned gospel sing-along at 6 p.m. Sunday in the sanctuary of Pine Valley Foursquare Church, 1328 County Road 501, Bayfield. Included in the program will be a duet with Jerry’s wife, Virginia, and a trio including son Tim. Homemade ice cream will be served after the service. The public is invited to sing-along or just enjoy the music.
