Wilderness first-aid courses to be offered

Remote Medical International will host these programs in Silverton:

Wilderness First Aid will take place Oct. 27-28 at the Kendall Mountain Recreation Center. This is a 16-hour course designed to provide elementary skills in remote care. The curriculum focuses on making sound decisions regarding patient evacuation as well as skills for extended care.

Wilderness First Responder will take place Nov. 9-18 at the Kendall Mountain Recreation Center. The 80-hour Wilderness First Responder certification is considered the standard training for professionals working as guides and outdoor leaders as well as anyone finding themselves in remote areas for extended periods of time. The program emphasizes decision-making, hands-on skills and theoretical knowledge necessary to function in remote areas, as well as providing a strong foundation to progress to more advanced levels of training.
